Prepare for Some Fireworks at Next Week's Skins Game

The boys sound ready to let it fly at The Skins Game next week.

There’s going to be a pretty big elephant in the room when The Skins Game kicks off next Friday at Panther National.

Shane Lowry and Tommy Fleetwood will no doubt have the upper hand in the trash-talk department thanks to their win at Bethpage Black, and Keegan Bradley and Xander Schauffele will have to wear it. But that doesn’t mean they’re not planning on firing back—but maybe not at Fleetwood.

“If I said anything bad to Tommy, I feel like I'd have to apologize after,” Bradley said during a press conference Thursday morning.

“Keegan's already paid me and Tommy extra to not talk about Ryder Cup. So it's okay,” Lowry quipped.

“At the end of the day, we're obviously playing for a lot of money and we're playing for a lot of bragging rights as well. So Keegan probably feels like he owes me and Tommy one or two, so I am sure he's going to be working hard over the next week.”

This time around, Bradley won’t be on the sidelines, and he’s looking forward to a little revenge.

“I won't have a walkie-talkie in my hand on Friday,” Bradley said. “I'll have a golf club, which is my chance to get back at these two maniacs down here.”

“I won't have 50,000 New Yorkers in my ear, either,” Lowry responded.

If you can’t tell, the boys were relaxed and letting it loose on the Zoom call. It was pretty fun to listen in on and only built up my anticipation for next week even more.

The best part, though, was when Schauffele learned that Fleetwood was a YouTube star.

“Hang on, YouTuber? I need to dig in on this,” Schauffele said as he buried his face in his phone to do some digging. “Subscribe.”

“One new subscriber. That makes it 12, now,” Lowry added. “Is Tommy going to arrive next week with 12 video cameras behind him for his YouTube channel?”

Lots of #TheGoodStuff during this presser.

As for the actual competition, despite its position during golf’s silly season, the boys are looking forward to getting the juices going.

“I think it's fun for us to go out there and compete,” Bradley said. “I'm playing against Tommy and Shane and Xander. We want to beat each other. And I know for me, with this lead up, I haven't played a tournament in so long that this feels like a real event that I have to prepare for, and I'm thinking I want to go out there and beat these guys just like they want to come out and beat me. So anytime that we're under the gun playing in front of the cameras against each other, we certainly want to go out there and beat each other.”

“I'm the same,” Lowry said. “I think I just love competition, and I just love going out and whether it be like a normal Wednesday afternoon down here in Florida and I'm going out and playing with a couple of friends, or whether it be The Skins Game next Friday…at the end of the day, we're four professionals and we are not going to want to lose.”

The Skins Game gets underway at 9 a.m. ET and is just the start of a busy sports day for Prime Video, which will broadcast the NFL’s Black Friday game as well as an NBA doubleheader.

I don’t know about you, but that sounds like the perfect way to recover from eating my body weight in turkey. The Irishman hopes Bradley and Schauffele do the same.

“I'm just hoping our American friends celebrate their Thanksgiving way too much on Thursday,” Lowry joked.

“Yeah, Thanksgiving's going to look a little different for me than it normally does,” Bradley replied.

Rest up, gentlemen. It’s almost show time.
