Once Scottie Scheffler’s winning putt dropped at the BMW Championship, the first six members of Team USA became official. Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and J.J. Spaun were already mathematically qualified, but now the other three were, as NFL insiders like to say, officially official.
Russell Henley, Harris English, and LIV Golf’s Bryson DeChambeau will suit up for captain Keegan Bradley come September. Henley, like Spaun, will be making his Ryder Cup debut, while English and DeChambeau were both part of the winning team in 2021 at Whistling Straits—Bryson was also a member of the team in 2018.
Let’s take a look at how each player has performed since the start of June, and what record they hold in the biennial event versus Europe.
Scottie Scheffler: Seven starts, seven top-10s, three wins (The Memorial, The Open, and the BMW Championship). His Ryder Cup record is 2-2-3.
Xander Schauffele: Seven starts, two top-10s, zero wins. His Ryder Cup record is 4-4-0.
J.J. Spaun: Seven starts, two top-10s, one win (U.S. Open). This will be his first Ryder Cup.
Russell Henley: Six starts, four top-10s, zero wins. This will be his first Ryder Cup.
Harris English: Seven starts, two top-10s, zero wins. His Ryder Cup record is 1-2-0.
Bryson DeChambeau: Eight starts (two majors, six LIV events), three top-10s, zero wins. His Ryder Cup record is 2-3-1.
