Welcome back, Rose Zhang!
Last month, Zhang took to Instagram citing some lingering issues that were exacerbated during the first round of the T-Mobile Match Play in Las Vegas.
Zhang wrote, "It’s been a bit disappointing as I processed a little bit of the last couple weeks on and off the golf course. Safe to say, things haven’t been too hot for me in the golf realm and I found myself struggling to compete in high spirits due to an injury. Just remember, this isn’t a sob story. It’s going to be a long and patient ride."
With this, it was unclear when Zhang would return. And after withdrawing from the JM Eagle LA Championship and the Chevron Championship—it appeared that Zhang would continue to play a lighter schedule.
The 21-year-old has only entered three events this season, as she was juggling a full load of classes at Stanford this winter. She carded a top-10 finish at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions to start the year, before taking two months off to return to school for a quarter.
Once the semester wrapped, Zhang would return to competition, playing in the Ford Championship in Arizona where she shot 73-70 and missed the cut, and then had a short stint at the T-Mobile Match Play, where the injury flared.
But things are looking up for the 2023 Mizuho Americas Open reigning champ, as she was seen on the range at Liberty National ahead of the competition.
Hopefully Zhang is ready to make a run at the title—because we'd love to see history repeat itself in this instance, and after such an up and down start to the season, a win or a top-10 would get her back on track.
