For a moment, it looked like Nelly Korda would be capturing her first win of the season.
But Youmin Hwang, a 22-year-old from South Korea, who was a sponsor invitee for the competition, birdied five of her final six holes to win the Lotte Championship at Hoakalei Country Club, making her the 26th different winner on the LPGA in 25 events this season. Note:The Dow Championship is a team event garnishing two winners, hence the champion number being one higher than the number of events so far.

With her win, the young Korean player, who primarily competes on the KLPGA, can now take up immediate LPGA membership or defer her card until the start of the 2026 season.
"This is my dream," Hwang said through a translator. "Finally, I achieved my dream here at the LOTTE Championship, and I also very much look forward to my future as well in the LPGA."
Soak it all in, because you earned it, Youmin! Hwang carded a career-low 62 during the second round, giving her a three shot lead heading into Friday's third round, where she shot a 3-over 75 and found herself a stroke behind heading into the final round.
In a rare, yet electric Saturday finish on the Tour, birdies were flying all over the place.
I mean, come on! Could you imagine draining four birds in a row en route to your first LPGA title, and the biggest of your career with major winners like Nelly Korda and Hyo Joo Kim chasing you down? She's got ice in her veins.
As for the world No. 2, she's not walking away disappointed either. Sure, a win here was the goal, but Korda is still playing the kind of golf that's putting her in the right places. "Overall, I'm putting myself into contention." Korda said after Saturday's final round. "It's definitely an interesting year for me result-wise, but at the end of the day I'm giving it 100%, controlling what I can control and I'm happy with that."
The LPGA Tour now heads east to Shanghai, South Korea, Malaysia and Japan for the fall Asia Swing with a chance to see the single season record of different winners hit 27...or more.
