The Field for Tiger Woods’ Hero World Challenge is Here

Do I know Tiger Woods probably won’t play in his Hero World Challenge down in the Bahamas? Yes, yes I do. But is it more fun to convince myself that one of the open three slots is for him? Absolutely it is.

The initial field fo Albany is here, a clear signal that golf’s silly season is right around the corner. It features World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, and Xander Schauffele, among others. Only 17 of 20 spots are filled, leaving the door open for a possible Tiger appearance—yes, I’m delusional.

Tiger’s been away from the game since rupturing his left Achilles while ramping up for the Masters earlier this year. So, yeah, he’s probably not going to play. However, he was seen swinging at club at the Nexus Cup at Liberty National last month.

After finishing runner-up to Viktor Hovland at the Hero in 2022, Scheffler has won the last two editions—I know, shocker!

Whether Tiger plays or not, the Hero is always a fun week that I look forward to every year.
