It feels like we’ve been talking about the discussions between the PGA TOUR and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund for a decade, and believe me, I’m as sick of it as all of you.
It still sucks that the best players in the world are divided and seemingly only four events a year matter, however, the TOUR has to be pretty happy with where it is. Big names are winning week in and week out, and its two biggest stars, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, are on top of the world. So it’s not too big of a surprise to see the TOUR wait things out.
On this week’s episode of Dan On Golf, Scratch’s Dan Rapaport was joined by Josh Carpenter of Sports Business Journal to discuss where the conversation between the two sides stands.
It feels like we’re at a stand-still.
“There doesn’t seem to be really any optimism in the industry…And there’s been no discussion, to my knowledge, in the last few months,” Carpenter told DRap.
Also on this week’s show, Dan sits down with Charles Schwab Challenge winner Ben Griffin, gives his Ryder Cup picks, takes another Blind Rank Em on World Number 2's, Rick Gehman joins the show to give this week’s picks, and more.
You can listen to the show wherever you get your podcasts or on the Dan On Golf YouTube channel.
