It's been a hell of a week for everyone's favorite dart-ripping golfer. But wait a second! In case you missed the memo, Charley Hull agreed to a $10,000 bet with English pro Ryan Evans that she won't smoke for the next two months.
In the video she posted to her Instagram feed and story, she told the fellow English golfer while handing him a pack of cigarettes, "Today, I've made the decision that I'm going to stop smoking. If I pick up a cigarette in the next two months, I'll give you 10 grand, and I'm shaking on that. Deal."
Hull's smoking hot rise to fame came last summer at the U.S. Women's Open, when fans and media outlets picked up on her on-course habit. Ironically, when she was younger, Hull would curse at her dad for smoking. The habit is something she and her family are used to—but as she turns a year older, perhaps she's looking to break that cycle.
The newly 29-year-old (as of March 20) will be swinging into action the Ford Championship just outside of Phoenix next week. Currently 19 of the top 20 players in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings are said to be in the field, Hull sits at world No.10. She'll be joined by other top-ranked players like Jin Young Ko, Lydia Ko, Nelly Korda, and Yuka Saso.
From big time bets to a birthday—have yourself a week Charley!
