Was there ever any doubt? From the moment she teed off on Thursday, Nelly Korda looked like the player to beat at Memorial Park.
It's the kind of track that suits her game—lengthy, rewards strong iron play—and her flatstick was the key early into the week. The now three-time major winner looked the most complete I've seen her look in recent memory, not just on the course, but also off.
"Last year was definitely a super frustrating year," Korda said in her winning presser. "You know, everyone was talking about my stats. It's just -- it wears on you because that's what you're working for. Everyone in this field is grinding and spending hours and hours and hours out there. Sometimes you see I don't remember stats better last year than the year that you were in 2024 and you're like, well, I have zero trophies under my name.
I don't want to reinvent the wheel. I don't want to do anything crazy. But I do want to get better. So what am I going to do better? The first thing was I was getting frustrated last year on the golf course and I started overanalyzing everything and I started overthinking, and then that was paralyzing me. Sometimes there is a power in just letting go."

She's playing with more freedom and it's paying off.
This is her second win in five starts, and she's yet to place outside of the top-two at all this season. Her hard work is certainly paying off, because with this, Korda will regain the World No. 1 ranking starting tomorrow morning. Korda has collectively spent 108 weeks at the Rolex Rankings No. 1 position over her career.
