Jason Day and Malbon Golf have become one of the best player-apparel duos on the PGA TOUR. The Aussie has made waves with dozens of his outfits including his all-sweats look at Pebble Beach. Another one of his fits that went viral on social media was the vest he wore last year at Augusta National during the first round of the Masters.
Day was asked by Augusta National to take the “busy” vest off but not before it started making its way around Golf Twitter.
This year, Day and Malbon have had to tone down their scripting choices. Day stopped by this week’s episode of Skratch’s Dan On Golf to discuss his outfits for the year’s first major.
“If they would have let us do what we first, like, put the scripting through to them, it would have been a lot crazier than last year, but it’ll be toned down…(Augusta National) asked to see the scripting before,” Day said. “They’ve never asked to see scripting of mine because I’ve always been pretty neutral and down the middle. This year they asked because what happened last year.”
Regardless of what he’s wearing, Day enters the Masters in great form. He’s seven-for-seven in the made-cuts department and has finished T-13 or better three times. His best finish at the Masters came in 2011, his tournament debut, when he tied for second.
As for this week's episode of DOG, Dan kicks off Masters week with Brian Harman on his Valero Texas Open win, chats Augusta strategy with Scott Fawcett, conducts a Masters Q&A with Alan Shipnuck, and goes over picks with Rick Gehman.
