Maybe there is something magical in that Evian spring water. There are no words for what we just saw from 21-year-old Lottie Woad, who just became the first player to graduate from the tour’s new LEAP program, securing her Tour Card—if she chooses to accept.
How'd she do it?
Well after she made the cut on Friday, Woad needed a top-25 finish at Evian Championship this weekend to earn her LPGA card—but that was too easy. The top-ranked amateur was on an absolute heater during Sunday's final round, going out at 30, carding five birdies in her first nine holes.
She started the day five shots back, but came roaring into contention and even had a share of the lead with world No. 2 Jeeno Thitikul, who was on the hunt for her maiden major title. And for a moment there, it looked as if Woad was about to become the first amateur since 1967 to win a major championship, since Catherine Lacoste won the U.S. Women's Open.
And though she came up short of the win, finishing in solo third, what we just saw from Woad was nothing short of spectacular. She was poised, focused, and looked as if she'd be there before. In a way, she kind of has been. The 2024 Augusta National Women's Amateur champion won that title in a similar fashion. She birdied three of the last four holes to win it—not shying away from the spotlight but thriving in it.
Her final round, 7-under 64 looked reminiscent of what we saw of Lydia Ko a decade ago.

She's not the next Lydia, she's the first Lottie—and we can't wait to see where she goes from here. With a commanding win just last week at the KPMG Women's Irish Open, we're willing to bet that she'll have a bright professional career—whenever she decides to make that decision.
Woad must turn professional to join the LPGA and accept membership for the remainder of the 2025 season—she'll have membership for 2026 as well.
Now we wait, the choice is all yours Lottie.
