Charlie Woods was a Man on Fire at the Junior PGA Championships

Charlie Woods has made some serious noise on the junior and amateur circuits over the last few months. It all started with his win at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in May, then continued when he qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur by surviving a 3-for-1 playoff—he missed the cut at the USGA event after rounds of 81-74.

But on Wednesday at the Junior PGA Championships in Indiana, Woods caught fire during the second round after a 1-under 70 to open the tournament.

Sure, he made three bogeys (Nos. 2, 16, and 17), but Charlie was pouring in putts from everywhere. In all, he put nine(!!) circles on his card, including six in his first eight holes.

His Day 2 6-under 66 vaulted him from T-46 to inside the top 10 and seven shots back of the leader, Lunden Esterline (14-under), who shot a 10-under 62.

With two rounds left, it’ll be fun to watch Charlie try to make another run at a junior championship. Keep in mind, the top two finishers earn spots on the Junior Ryder Cup team.
