It's been quite a while since she's been in the winner's circle, but once more, Brooke Henderson hoists a trophy in front of her home crowd.
The 27 year old is the winningest Canadian golfer of all time, and she showed exactly why over the weekend when she edged Minjee Lee with a closing round of 4-under 68, en route to her 14th career victory at at Mississaugua Golf and Country Club in Ontario.
Henderson also became the 23rd different winner on the LPGA this season.
The record for the most different winners in an LPGA season is 26, which was set in the 1991, 2018, and 2022 seasons.
“This week was beyond special,” Henderson said after the final putt dropped. “To be able to finish it off and hoist the trophy again is extremely cool.”
She added, “Honestly, I’m surprised I’m not crying right now because it just means so much.”
"This one I think might be the longest in between victories, so for that reason it makes it super special. To be able to win the Canadian Open, the CPKC Women's Open, for the second time is so special," Henderson expressed.
Henderson also won the Women's Open in 2018 at Wascana Country Club in Regina. That made her the first Canadian in 45 years, since Jocelyne Bourassa in 1973, to win the national championship.
She'll tee it up in this week's FM Championship in Boston, along with Megha Ganne, the winner of the U.S. Women's Amateur.
