The Golf World Remembers Dave Pelz

Dave Pelz revolutionized the game of golf and helped countless players improve their game. His teachings led Phil Mickelson to his win at the 2004 Masters.

Dave Pelz passed away on Sunday at the age of 85, a man adored in the golf world for his teaching, philosophies, and revolutionary mindset.

Pelz is regarded as one of the great short-game gurus to ever impact the game of golf. He helped players like Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh, Paul Azinger, Mike Weir, Michelle Wie West, and Patrick Reed, among many others.

When Mickelson first contacted Pelz in late 2003, he was winless at major championships. After working together, Mickelson’s game reached another level and that led to wins at the Masters (2004, 2006) and PLAYERS Championship (2007).

Pelz passed due to complications from prostate cancer, a fight he went public with in 2019.
