Sim Seeking: Inside NYC's Exclusive Indoor Golf Club in the Heart of Midtown

This week we head to one of the hubs of NYC culture—Midtown Manhattan. Just steps away from Rockefeller Plaza sits Konnectgolf, an intimate space where golf and corporate America meet.

What I've really loved the most about exploring the different simulators around the New York area is seeing just how unique these spaces are, despite the model being inherently the same. 'How different can golf simulators really be?', is a question this series in answering in hopes that you can find the one that resonates with you the most.

In the fifth iteration of Sim Seeking, we journey into the belly of the beast...Midtown Manhattan. Though it's home to so many iconic New York landmarks and destinations—Broadway, the Empire State Building, Times Square and so much more—Midtown remains to be one of my least favorite places in the city, until now!

Konnectgolf is a private indoor golf club designed expertly for the city golfer who craves the country club feel. Located right on the famed 5th Avenue, this space is a sanctuary for those who eat, sleep, and breathe corporate America. Konnect offers up a quiet oasis in the heart of one of the busiest areas in the world, for those just looking to get a quick golfing escape in during their busy schedules.

Like our pals at Loftlinks, this is another spot that has that 'if you know, you know' vibe. Unless you're looking for it, you won't know it's there—and that's a huge part of the charm. New York has its fair share of exclusive social clubs, reserved for members to mingle and network, and Konnect feels like the golfer's version of a SoHo House. Not only can you work on your game, but there's this quiet byproduct of fraternizing, similar to country clubs.

Konnect exists to give its members the "club" feel, and they do so through subtle details. With its state of the art Trackman technology, each bay is equipped with an iPhone that syncs up with the software to record every swing you take. Off to the side sits the performance area, where the in-house strength and conditioning specialist helps build personalized programs for members who are looking to get golf fit. Next to the performance zone are sets of the latest technology from Mizuno for members to test out. There's even a small bar area for you to enjoy a libation or two. This is a sim, built by golfers for golfers who want its members to maximize the most of their experience.

Where the X-Golfs and Five Irons of the world lean more toward the come one, come all messaging, this and Loftlinks feel much more targeted for the single-digit handicappers, or those seeking to become one—and I can appreciate them for being more for the purists.

Sim golf can easily fall into an arcade-like experience or be perhaps too gamified like TopGolf, but Konnect balances out its functions so that it still feels like a golf space despite being limited to four walls.

So for my friends itching to fill the country club void, this is a great option—check out what I uncovered about this exclusive spot.
