Happy Gilmore 2's first full trailer made its highly anticipated debut at Netflix's live TUDUM event Saturday, giving us our closest look yet and the cult classic's return.
After a sports-doc style intro with an homage to Happy's return, Christopher McDonald, Julie Bowen, and Adam Sandler took the stage with Rich Eisen for a few parody press conference question. And then, we finally got the trailer.
Most notably in the trailer, we get a closer look at the plot of the sequel. Happy is down and out and no longer has his game. His daughter has her sights set on ballet glory. Happy has to be convinced to pick up the sticks again, thanks to John Daly who reminds him it's gonna cost him a couple hundred grand. More than he needed to save Grandma's house, even.
Honestly, does the plot even matter? We're getting more Happy. What else matters? I think this is one of those movies that if it lets you down, that's on you.
Here are 5 more notable details we learned from the new trailer.
If Verne Lundquist saying "Happy Gilmore" doesn't give you chills I don't know what will. (Or you were born after the year 2000.)
Lots of relatives are making appearances, including of Chubbs Petersen and Mr Larsen, it appears, Happy's former boss turned muscle man.
Happy still drives that beater car, which is a nice sign that he's still a good dude.
We're gonna get a Happy-Caddie celly with Willy Z like they did in the original.
Happy's daughter plays a big role in the plot in pursuit of ballet greatness.
Upon further review, we're also seeing a Nelly appearance, folks.
