When you hear the name John Daly, what comes to mind?
Long drives? Cigarettes? Diet Coke? For me, it’s the drink that only has one rival—the Transfusion—when it comes to the most popular on-course beverage in the game: the John Daly.
The simple mixture of iced tea, lemonade, and vodka has gotten me through plenty of disappointing rounds. And, sure, is it just an Arnold Palmer with a splash of Russian nectar? Yes, but it’s delicious either way.
On this week’s episode of Vanity Index, Chad Mumm tells the origin story of the John Daly, a tale he heard right from the horse’s mouth. And, yes, it’s both ridiculous and unsurprising, just like Daly himself.
