I’m always a little sceptical about golf club sets that come with everything. Driver, irons, wedges, putter, bag. It’s a lot of gear for such a cheap price, so it’s no surprise that most of those offerings are, uh, pretty crappy.
So, to be honest, I didn’t have high expectations going into this review. But I tried to keep my mind open from the jump, and I came away pleasantly surprised.
The Stix x Jack Nicklaus Complete Set includes everything any amateur golfer would ever need on the golf course: driver, fairway wood, hybrid, 4-iron through PW, 52-degree wedge, 56-degree wedge, 60-degree wedge, and a putter. Plus, all the woods and the putter come with a nice Golden Bear headcover, which I thought was a nice touch. In all, it comes in at $1,499.
Now, let’s talk looks. Whether they want to believe it or not, the look of a golf club absolutely matters to amateur golfers. No one wants to hit a club they hate looking down at. The driver, fairway wood, and hybrid are matte black, which I love. The driver’s crown is made of carbon and has a hint of gold that makes the club pop. When I was hitting this driver, I do have to say, the look was really, really nice. It’s something that you want to hit.
And the irons were just as good. They’re shaped like a blade, but they have a little extra meat on them to make them easier to hit, but that doesn’t affect the look at all. These are beautiful irons, something a lot of other companies that sell these full sets can’t say. Those irons are usually ugly and chunky-looking, but this Stix set is pretty to look at. Same thing can be said for the wedges and putter. They did a great job with these designs.
As for the bag, the quality is good. It doesn’t feel like it’ll break down after just a few seasons and the all-black look with the Golden Bear logo is clean. Stix kept it pretty simple with it, and I think that’s the right call.

Now, let’s get into the important part: how do the clubs perform?
Let’s start with the short-game gear, wedges and putter. Wedges get a nice checkmark. The spin around the greens was good, and I felt like I had a lot of control inside 40-50 yards. When I opened up the face, it was easy to use the bounce to hit high, soft shots. For a wedge, that's a must for me and these checked that box. Now the putter is the only club I didn’t love, but it got the job done. My eyes didn’t love the shape of it when I was over the ball, but the feel was fine and it came with a thicker grip, which was nice.
The irons are money. These things felt like butter when I middled ‘em. The off-center strikes lost a little distance, but the side-to-side dispersion was great. Again, they didn’t feel quite as good as the TaylorMade P770s I have in the bag right now, or other models I've tried in the same range like the Srixon ZXi4s or Callaway Ai300s, but for a complete set, these things are well worth the money. Probably as good as some big-name sets I’ve hit in the past. I was very impressed.
And, finally, the driver is good, too. It didn’t have the same pop as some of the big name big-sticks I've used in the past, but the distance loss was minimal. Plus, it comes with an adjustment tool so players can make slight adjustments to help them hit it straighter and further.
So, who is this set for? These clubs are perfect for anyone with a handicap between 10 and 20. Players who are hoping to break 85 soon? This set will help you do just that. Someone just getting into the game? These clubs are easy to hit and would make the perfect first set for a newbie.
Would I recommend this set? Absolutely. From looks, to quality, to performance, the Stix x Jack Nicklaus set checks all the boxes. Plus, the price is pretty reasonable. A nice set of irons these days comes in around $1,200-$1,300, so this Stix setup offers a ton of value.
If you go down this road, you won't be disappointed.
