Ping has built its reputation on forgiving drivers. Even its lower-spin LST drivers—which get a huge amount of play on the PGA TOUR—remain remarkably stable, which goes a long way toward explaining why Ping drivers are perennial fixtures in professional golf bags.
To cap off the G430 line, Ping launched the G430 Max 10K, a lower spin driver that pushed forgiveness that notched multiple PGA TOUR wins in the hands of non-staffer Ben Griffin.
Now, Ping is looking to raise its own bar again.
With the addition of Dual Carbonfly Wrap Technology, the new Ping G440 K Driver is designed to surpass Ping’s previous high-MOI benchmarks while introducing adjustable weighting for the first time in a “K” model—a notable shift for a category traditionally defined by fixed, extreme stability.

“The ‘K’ is a great addition to the G440 driver line, providing another custom-fitting option loaded with innovations. We encourage golfers to experience a PING driver custom fitting with one of our expert fitters around the world who’ve been trained in our fitting techniques and are equipped with our fitting tools. They’ll analyze your launch-monitor results to help find the G440 driver that best fits your game. Whether it’s the new K, the MAX, the LST or SFT, there’s a PING G440 driver for every golfer.”
- Ping CEO & President John K. Solheim
Beyond the proven technologies of Ping's T9S+ forged face with variable face thickness and "spinsistency" (still one of the best invented marketing names in golf), the biggest addition to the G440 K from others in the G440 line is a carbon fiber plate on the sole that frees up enough mass to add adjustable weighting. Traditionally, this type of adjustable weighting would have been at the sacrifice of MOI, but the carbon fiber makes it possible.

“The combined MOI of the G440 K driver surpasses our previous mark and continues our pursuit of engineering the highest-performing drivers in the world," Solheim says. “It’s a remarkable accomplishment for our engineering team to offer golfers this new level of forgiveness with the benefits of weight adjustability.”
Even though the core of the driver stays the same, Ping has created a secondary G440 K HL (High Launch) build option for golfers on the lower end of the swing speed spectrum, who would benefit from an overall lighter weight driver.
The HL option comes with a lighter 28g adjustable back weight, an ultra-light Ping Alta Quick 35 or 45 shaft, and a Lamkin UTx Lige grip that comes in just over 40 grams. To enhance custom fitting options, this build type is available in all lofts (9°, 10.5°, & 12°).
The new G440 K driver is priced at $700 and is available now for custom fitting at Ping accounts, and will find its way into retail store January 29th.
