If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Or in the case of Golf Pride, if you've added a nice bit of market share to your bottom line with a new grip concept like the Reverse Taper, why not try and beat your competition at their own game?

Building off the of success of the aforementioned Reverse Taper grip launched in 2024, Golf Pride is adding to their line of polyurethane grips the new Zero Taper, a grip that offers golfers the opportunity to create consistent hand feel from top to bottom of the grip.
Two years ago, we introduced Reverse Taper, and it quickly became one of the top-selling putter grips worldwide. With ZERO TAPER, we’re building on that success by offering players who favor a consistent geometric shape a grip that meets their needs.
-James Ledford, President of Golf Pride.
The grip features a very similar texture to the popular Reverse Taper, along with visual cues to help golfers place their hands in the same spot putt after putt. To further help with consistency and hand placement the back of the grip features what Golf Pride calls a horseshoe profile to help the grip settle naturally into the palm and fingers.

In the world of grips Golf Pride in an innovator, and invests heavily into player testing along with research and development. The Reverse Taper and other designs like the Plus 4 and CPX are perfect examples of this drive to create. In the case of the Zero Taper, Golf Pride isn't breaking a ton of new ground, but what they are doing is demonstrating that even with innovation, it's ok to create something that golfers just want.
Just because Titleist makes the number one tour ball, other companies don't avoid trying to innovate with new materials in the golf ball space. And in the same vein, there will be other companies making zero taper style putter grips in the space but that doesn't mean Golf Pride can't bring their owns designs to the table.
Putting is all about feel and Golf Pride approaches their "Taper" series putter grips with an outer texture that is quite unique to the competition, which could turn a lot of golfers heads. So, even if it's similar, the Golf Pride ZT offers enough distinction that it should be something you consider the next time you're looking for a new putter grip.
Starting February 17, ZERO TAPER grips will be available for purchase in-store and online for $35 each, and will come in the color choices of red, black, or blue and in sizes medium and large.
