Now is the time of the year when we start to get a sneak peek of what's to come for new clubs in 2026, but just because new clubs are coming doesn't mean you have to line up to buy them. This is especially true if you've recently been fit. But if your clubs already have a few seasons of use under their belt, now the perfect time to upgrade something else in preparation for next year - your grips!

Even with grips being a critical part of a golf club's three main components (head, shaft, and grip), they’re by far the most overlooked and ignored. Sure, talking shafts and club heads is fun, but if you can't hold on to your club, what's the point?
Another reason many golfers overlook their grips is that, just like your favorite pair of shoes, grips wear down slowly over time, and because of this slow degradation, grip wear becomes way less obvious unless you're comparing it to a new one side-by-side, that's when you realize "Whoa, this thing really are worn out!".
Your grips are the only connection you have between you and your golf clubs, and you shouldn’t settle for just 'okay.' You should only accept 'these feel great!' ringing in your head as you use them.

It used to be common practice to fit and size grips based on hand size and shoot shape, but modern fitting techniques, as well as industry studies have proven, the most effective grip size is the one that feels the most comfortable in your hands.
Plus, beyond size, other factors like texture, taper, and material each play a substantial role in how a grip feels and reacts in your hands, and how the club reacts to different forces during your swing. The more comfortable you are when gripping a club, the less you’re going to worry about your grip during your swing, and being able to eliminate any extra thoughts while standing over your next shot can go a long way in helping to lower your scores, too.
