I would argue the PGA Tour had one of its most competitive and memorable seasons in 2025. From career-defining majors to first-time winners, it felt like the tour's biggest names showed up week after week. But rather than just talk about the wins and losses, it was also a big season for equipment stories, so without further ado, here are the top gear stories of the PGA Tour season.
It's not too often an "older" model becomes the story, but for the Qi10 driver, it was hard to miss. Although Rory had moments of testing the 2025 Qi35, including at a disastrous Canadian Open halfway through the year, he, along with Scottie Scheffler, Nelly Korda, and other staffers, stuck with the 2024 model and saw big success. As they say, if it's not broken, don't fix it.
A Qi10 3-wood was also in the bag of every men's major winner in 2025, which is either a shocking coincidence, or just a sign that whatever went into that thing is special.
That is not to say the Qi35 wasn't great. Numerous players won with Qi35 products including Tommy Fleetwood and Karl Vilips.
If I was to name a manufacturer of the year, it would have to be L.A.B. Golf. Sure, they didn't have the most wins but, they sure made news when they did, like when JJ Spaun drained a 60+ foot putt on the final hole of the U.S. Open to secure his first major.
They also made news off the course, when they were acquired by a LVMH Backed L Catterton Private Equity Firm.
To win big, sometimes you have to take chances, and in the case of Ben Griffin, he along with the team at Maxfli bet this young PGA Tour player could make an impact at the highest level while also playing a Dick's Sporting Goods House brand golf ball.
Not only did Ben prove he could win (multiple times) and make the Ryder Cup team, but he also helped to show the world that the folks over at Maxfli know how to design one heck of a high performance golf ball.
A PGA Tour winning golf ball that offers some of the best value in golf.

BUY NOWWhat do Ryan Fox, Keegan Bradley, Sepp Straka, Andrew Novak, JJ Spaun, plus Grace Kim and Miyu Yamashita all have in common? They all won with Srixon irons.
Even after having a massive 2024, I feel 2025 was Srixon's real coming-out party for most casual golf consumers who were previously unfamiliar with the brand. They even won 5 of 8 PGA events in a row at one point during the season. Srixon irons have been notoriously successful at custom fitting shops for close to a decade now, but with a full lineup that includes the extremely forgiving ZXi4, you don't have to be a pro to experience their performance.
I swear I'm not trying to sound like a broken record, but when it comes to wins, the Spiders' winning ways aren't just a trend - they're a constant part of the conversation. It was used to win 3 of the 4 men's majors, the Tour Championship/FedEx Cup, and the ZT (zero Torque) model even won the Valero Texas Open.
It also won plenty of times on the LPGA Tour, including at the Womens British Open thanks to previously mentioned Miyu Yamashita.
