In honour of Cameron Young's Breakthrough win, we're gonna do a little deep dive on the switch that helped him win in a big way.
To say that Cameron Young winning the Wyndham Championship was going to be a foregone conclusion wouldn’t have been a stretch going into Sunday, especially considering the performance he put on the first three days that gave him a commanding lead. It allowed Sunday to remain relatively stress-free, while he shot a 2-under 68 around Sedgefield Country Club to win by 6 shots over Mac Meissner.
Now, if you're a believer in numerology, we get to talk a lot of ones and zeros when discussing Cameron's win.
This marks his long-awaited first win on the PGA Tour, which officially makes him Mr. 1000 - the 1000th individual player to win a PGA Tour event. The Wyndham was (almost) his 100th PGA Tour event (sure that's a bit of a stretch since it was number 94), and this was also the very first event he put into play a new Prototype Titleist ProV1X golf ball; the ProV1x - Left DOT DOT).

In the world of golf balls, R&D never stops. Designers and engineers are constantly working with players to fine-tune attributes that include launch, spin, flight windows, and, of course, feel to maximize performance, with the final result being prototypes built for additional testing.
The end result is the golf balls consumers find at retail and what most golfers on the professional tours use. But, and this is an important one to note, there are other golf balls known as Custom Performance Options or CPOs for short, that are made available to tour players and sometimes consumers in limited quantities as a way to long term test other performance attributes. Recently this has included the Pro V1 Left Dot and Pro V1x Left Dash, two golf balls that live outside of the Pro V1, Pro V1x, and AVX characteristics.
In the case of Cameron Young he recently spent time testing a new Pro V1x Left Dot Dot, and after some great results put it in play for the first time this week at Wyndham, after it became available.
"We weren't sure if he was going to test it this week, but as he was warming up, he asked to hit a couple on the range. He was then curious to see some shots out on the course," Fordie Pitts, Titleist’s Director of Tour Research & Validation said.
After going back and both, by the second hole, Cameron was hitting shots with just the new ball.
Performance-wise, he was hitting tight draws everywhere," Pitts said. "His misses were staying more in play. He hit some, what he would call ‘11 o'clock shots,’ where again he's taking a little something off it. He had great control there.
After the initial 9-hole on Tuesday, Fordie accompanied Cameron for another 9-hole practice round on Wednesday where following the round, Cameron asked the Titleist Tour support team to load his locker with the new prototype Pro V1x (Left Dot Dot) and as they say - the rest is history.

Not to be outdone on the women's side, Miyu Yamashita held strong all day at Royal Porthcawl to hold of a strong leaderboard and win by three shots. Like JJ Spaun at the U.S. Open, Miyu is a Srixon Athlete and used a full bag of Srixon gear (minus one club, which we'll touch on in a minute) to secure her first Major Championship.

So as noted, the only non-Srixon club in Miyu's bag was her TaylorMade Spider which not only gives me the chance to once again share a video I made at the start of the season which keeps ringing true, but also gives me the opportunity to let you know that the Spider putter line won 4 of the 9 men's and women's majors of 2025. Thats one heck of a winning percentage.
