Callaway Launches X-Forged & X-Forged Max

Callaway is re-entering the one-piece forged iron category with two all-new irons.

In the world of pure one-piece forged irons, it’s been a while since Callaway has offered something up to retail golfers in North America. Yes, they’ve been getting creative with one-off sets for tour players on the PGA and LPGA Tours, but if you were a golfer looking for a new set, you were out of luck - until now.

Say hello to the new X-Forged and X-Forged Max, two new irons from Callaway that offer up pure one-piece forged construction and design tweaks to help golfers get the most from every swing.

Stand-out Features

Since we're talking about one-piece forged clubs, there isn’t a ton to dive into when it comes to internal technology, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot going on.

Both models are forged from soft 1020 Carbon Steel, and draw inspiration from classically shaped irons of the past to inspire confidence and precision. A major design feature that Callaway incorporated into the designs came from tour players who demanded the best turf interaction is the new Tri-level sole.

This design places more bounce in the front middle of the sole while also offering relief along the trailing edge to reduce friction and help the club exit the ground faster under varying conditions. It goes to show how minor features add up to major gains.

Now for those looking for a bit more forgiveness, there is also the X-Forged Max. Its still a single one piece forged iron but offers a larger profile with a slightly wider sole, more offset, and stronger lofts to help add distance without sacrificing feel or control. By removing weight from the heel and toe of the cavity, designers were able to keep the impact area thicker behind the impact area and more more mass around the head to create stability.

Both the X-Forged and X-Forged Max irons are available 4-PW and priced at $220 per club. Pro-order is now open, with the full retail release date scheduled for July 25th.
