Personally, I don’t love going for a walk. Unless, of course, I’m walking a round of golf. The nature, the landscaping, the exercise—all things I can get on a normal walk, but when I'm walking the golf course, I'm playing golf and seeing them.
Today, there are more golfers than ever, meaning more congested golf courses and ever. Here in LA (and presumably much of the country), it’s nigh impossible to get a great tee time. And if you do, your round will probably take six hours.
So why not walk? A cart is fine, but if the weather is nice, nothing beats a human-powered trip around the links. You’re still going to have to wait for that guy in front of you to let the green clear from 240 yards, so you might as well enjoy a pleasant jaunt around the course while you’re waiting.
The only downside to walking the golf course is having to carry all of your stuff, including all the beers you plan on drinking throughout the round. (You'd be surprised how much weight even just three cold ones adds to the load) Liquid notwithstanding, your usual cart bag setup might not be quite light enough to carry for 18 holes, but we think there is plenty of gear that will make walking 18 (or, dare we say, 36) much more fun.
So save that endless tally of cart fees and pick up some gear to make walking a more pleasant experience. These are some of our favorite bits to make a day on your feet that much better.

If you’re going to walk, you need comfortable golf shoes. I can’t emphasize this enough. Nothing kills a round of golf faster than uncomfortable feet or pesky blisters. Ecco’s shoes are literally made for walking—and the Biom H5 is one of the best looking walking-focused golf shoes I’ve ever seen.

BUY NOWA helping hand never hurts anyone, and with a push cart, you’re still getting a nice workout in. It holds your bag, keeps your phone and on-course essentials handy, and it solves the aforementioned beer weight problem. This one is human-powered, but an electric push cart is also a great option if you don’t mind splashing the cash.

BUY NOWA carry bag is a must-have for a dedicated walker. Whether you’re hitting the local par 3 or executive course or just don’t feel like carrying a full-sized bag, a carry bag like this one from Jones will make walking all 6,000+ yards of a golf course a breeze.

BUY NOWIf you do opt for a carry bag, I love the addition of a hickory bag stand. Its vintage looks pair well with the old-school vibes of a carry bag and will keep you from having to bend all the way to the ground 75 (or 105) times in a round. Plus, it’ll protect your clubs from being dropped on the ground over and over.

BUY NOWA range finder is always helpful on the course, but if you’re walking, it might be easier to just wear a GPS watch that you can peek down at before every shot. The Approach S44 comes with thousands of pre-loaded courses and can give you instant data on weather, distances, hazards, and more.

BUY NOWWhen you walk, there’s no respite from the elements unless you provide your own cover. A bucket hat keeps your face, eyes, ears, and neck protected from the sun and rain. This one from Adidas fits like a dream and matches any golf outfit you can put together.

BUY NOWIf you’re walking, you can actually listen to some tunes or a podcast without bugging your playing partners. Clip this onto your bag and you’ll be all set. The JBL Clip 5’s battery will last through at least an entire round (maybe more), and is fully waterproof.

BUY NOWnother handy accessory to keep you from putting additional strain on your back, the magnetic golf towel is a must-have. It easily clips on and off your bag, can be draped between your clubs, and latches onto your wedges or putter when you’re around the green.

BUY NOWIf you’re walking the course, you might as well keep track of your statistics. The Whoop strap monitors your heart rate, body temperature, steps, and crunches all of those numbers into digestible insights that will not only improve your golf game but will improve your overall wellness.
