Ben Griffin may or may not topple a giant this afternoon in Ohio, but whether he comes out victorious (again) or not, he'll have done so with a pretty interesting story behind one element of his fit.
Griffin said Saturday that he'd been experiencing floaters in his vision last year and underwent laser surgery to address the issue. At last year's RBC Canadian Open, he gave dark sunglasses a shot to counter the issue and liked what he saw (sorry). According to Golfweek, after admiring a pair C.T. Pan had been sporting, he shot him a $20 Venmo to send him a pair and the rest is history.
And speaking of history: The brand who makes the sunglasses, Uswing, played a big role in a big moment, in recent golf history.
Phil Mickelson was wearing a different model of the brand's mirrored-lense shades when he won the PGA Championship at Kiawah in 2021. He wore them in the rain, too.
Between Lefty, C.T., and the Griffinator, I think it's safe to say Uswing's offering if having a moment right now. One might even wonder if there's some magic in these shades, and I hope it works for C.T. Pan here soon, my man deserves it for the hookup.
Finally, shoutout to Ben Griffin for nabbing a $600+ discount on some gently used gems.
The golf gods should soon reward C.T. Pan for what he's done for Ben Griffin here.
