TravisMathew Made My First American Century Championship Trip Feel Like an Annual Tradition

Between the course, the city, and the fit checks, this week proved why the brand keeps showing up in and beyond golf.

Some trips just hit different.

This past week, I spent a few days with TravisMathew during the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe. A first for me at Edgewood, and definitely not the last. The course was unreal. The vibes were perfect. It’s one of the brand’s biggest sponsored events of the year, and they show up big for a reason.

From the start, it felt like more than just a golf event. It was a full-on playcation. Beautiful weather. Great food. Competitive energy with just the right amount of chaos. And TravisMathew made it all feel like home base.

I also had a chance to catch up with Ryan Ellis, the brand’s CEO, who has been with TravisMathew for 18 years. It’s wild to see how far the brand has come—from a small SoCal golf label to a core part of the modern golf style conversation. And it happened naturally. A lot of that growth comes down to two things Ryan has focused on for years—material and quality.

Now owned by Callaway, TravisMathew still carries that easy Southern California charm into everything they do. It’s polished without being precious. Sporty without being stuck in performance mode. Just versatile, wearable gear that gets better the more you live in it.

This week, I had the chance to pick a few pieces from the brand’s apparel and footwear lineup. I wore them through everything—walking every hole at Edgewood, dinners after the rounds, taking jump shots with friends, and even early morning walks through town before each tee time.
