Who ever thought we’d be comparing streetwear to golf apparel? Not me, but I can’t say I’m upset about it.
In the 90s and 2000s, skate culture was at its absolute peak. Along with the fervor for skate culture came a flotilla of streetwear brands that defined the era’s style. Legendary culture-defining outfits like Supreme and Stussy led the way, pushing the culture forward with each and every drop.
Fast forward to 2025 and those guys who spent their time skating and causing a ruckus in New York and LA (and everywhere in between) are now spending their time on the golf course — less of a chance of snapping your collarbone or breaking an ankle.
But their proclivities remain the same. They’re still streetwear kids at heart, so it’s not a surprise that many of the most popular brands in golf style right now are the ones made by folks who have been part of the skating zeitgeist for the past 30 years or so.
Malbon Golf, Students Golf, Metalwood Studio — many of the brands that are pushing the envelope the most are all rooted in streetwear. But the actual blueprint for a modern golf brand might not be one of the new players in the golf world; it’s a streetwear brand founded by a legendary designer and creative director.
Noah is a New York-based brand that makes grown-up streetwear for guys who have aged out of the endless hype cycle but aren’t ready to leave streetwear in their past. The aforementioned founder is Brendon Babenzien, who spent nearly 20 years at Supreme before leaving to focus his efforts on his own project.
What Babenzien may not have realized is that he was developing a brand that was not only a perfect fit for menswear lovers who didn’t want to wear exclusively graphic tees and JNCO jeans anymore, but also for golfers who want to flex a bit of their personal style on the golf course. Scroll through the Noah website and you’ll easily find 10-12 things that would look just as good on the links as they would anywhere else. Polos, pleated pants, quarter-zips, and western-inspired leather belts highlight the Noah’s golf-adjacent offerings, all of which could easily be found on the shelves of a tried-and-true golf brand.
Given streetwear’s infiltration of golf, this may not be surprising. But it’s fun to see the intersection of style, streetwear, and golf finding its way into places where that wasn’t even the intention. Golf style is changing by the minute, and Noah finds itself very much part of the new age of apparel that makes the sport more than just a performance pursuit, but a style one, as well.
