The Year of Rory McIlroy is coming to a close.
Over the last 10 months, the Northern Irishman won at Pebble Beach and TPC Sawgrass (for a second time), hoisted hardware at the Irish Open (again, for a second time), and led Team Europe to a Ryder Cup win on foreign soil. Oh, and he became the sixth player to gain entry into one of the most exclusive clubs in sports with his win at the Masters in April.
In less than a year, McIlroy’s legacy morphed from that of a no-doubt hall of famer to the greatest European to ever touch a club. So, yeah, not a bad year.
Over the weekend, McIlroy was seen at Northern Ireland’s Giant’s Causeway wearing his Green Jacket, standing beside his four major trophies—or, what I like to call, a massive, massive flex.
While this shoot is probably for some advertisement or promotional project, I like to think he’s taking photos for the Christmas card.
But if next year’s Masters broadcast begins with a hype video of Rory at the Causeway, I wouldn’t complain.
After a T-26 finish at the India Championship, McIlory’s next start will be next week at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. His busy fall/winter schedule will conclude with the DP World Tour Championship and the Australian Open in December.
