Sir Nick Faldo resides on a list of just eight men who have earned more than two Green Jackets. Faldo and his three jackets sit among Jack Nicklaus (six), Tiger Woods (five), Arnold Palmer (four), and two-time winners Jimmy Demaret, Sam Snead, Gary Player, Phil Mickelson.
So to say his resume at Augusta National isn’t great would be an insane comment—but outside of his three wins, it’s not great!
One of Golf Twitter’s favorite things is taking a look at a player’s Wikipedia page to see their past results in major championships. A green box means a win, a yellow box means a top-10 finish, and no color means a finish outside the top 10—if none of that makes sense to you, don’t worry, you’ll understand the color-coded obsession momentarily.
Masters '25: Picks to Win, Best Bets
For example, outside of his win at Los Angeles Country Club and the 2023 U.S. Open, Wyndham Clark doesn’t have any other color on his major championship chart. His next-best finish was a tie for 33rd at the ‘23 Open.
As for Faldo, his Masters Wikipedia chart is wildly monochromatic. Outside of his three wins, the rest of his chart is colorless. His next-best finish at Augusta National was a tie for 12th in 1991, a year after his second Masters win. After his third and final win in 1996, Faldo played in 10 more editions of the year’s first major championship and missed six cuts.
This is just one of infinite examples that show how incredible this golf course and tournament are. Augusta National is a beast that can be tamed for four days, but it'll eventually come back to bite you—unless your last name is Nicklaus or Woods.
