That group won't include Max Homa, who failed to advance from a playoff from the qualifying site in Canada. Homa, once ranked fifth in the world, is down to No. 117 and slated to play in this week's RBC Canadian Open after a T-22 finish at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Now, only a win can get him an invitation to Long Island.
On the other hand, 17-year-old amateur Miles Russell made it through via a playoff in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, with Charlie Woods on the bag. The pair is set to be college teammates at Florida State University.
