When we think about incredible coaches, names like Nick Saban, Coach K, Bill Belichick (minus the Jordon Hudson of it all) come to mind. From a women's college golf standpoint, go ahead and add Anne Walker to that list.
Since 2012, under her leadership, the Stanford women's golf team has collected three national titles (2015, 2022, 2024), 51 full-field victories, and has produced 37 All-Americans. Stanford has had at least one first-team All-American in all 13 seasons with Walker at the helm.
She's mentored players like Rachel Heck, Andrea Lee, Paula Martín Sampedro, Mariah Stackhouse, Albane Valenzuela, Rose Zhang, and the most recent U.S. Women's Amateur champion Megha Ganne.
Stanford is the team that continuously raises the bar and its caliber of talent—and its most recent addition is a just another example of exactly that.
Asterisk Talley, the 16-year-old standout who was the runner up at this year's Augusta National Women's Amateur, just announced her commit to the Cardinal via Instagram.

Posted to her private account, Talley wrote, "This has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember."
But dare I say, Stanford is just as lucky to have her—she's the formidable player of her class to watch over the next few years.
The teen quietly came on to the scene at the 2024 U.S. Women's Open at Lancaster, where she was the youngest competitor in the field. She went on to make that cut and snagged a share of low-amateur honors.
Since then she's played in a handful of LPGA events, including this year's USWO at Erin Hills, the ShopRite LPGA Classic, and the JM Eagle LA Championship. (Remember, amateurs can earn points toward their LPGA membership through the LEAP pathway program.) She was a stroke play co-medalist at the U.S. Women's Am at Bandon Dunes. And she's the 2025 Girls Junior PGA Champion.
Talley in Cardinal red feels like a match made in paradise.
