Tommy Fleetwood Jokes Justin Rose Will Play in the Ryder Cup Until “He’s 102”

Justin Rose just keeps getting it done for Team Europe, and Tommy Fleetwood says the 45-year-old will play in the Ryder Cup until “he’s 102.”

Justin Rose is 45 years old. He’s not too far away from being eligible for the Champions Tour. But he continues to show up when the lights get bright.

At last week’s Ryder Cup, he was 2-0 alongside Tommy Fleetwood in afternoon four-ball and went 18 holes against Cameron Young on Sunday but lost to a closing birdie by the young American. This came two years after he went 1-1-1 in Rome, a showing that included some monster putts in big spots.

Rose continues to be a clear leader for the Europeans, and Fleetwood doesn’t see that changing ANY time soon.

On Wednesday, Fleetwood, who went 4-1-0 at Bethpage Black and is playing in this week’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the DP World Tour, was asked about potential captains for Adare Manor in 2027.

“Yeah, we'll see what happens,” Fleetwood said. “I think the ball is probably in Luke's court, and I think he's earned that. Justin is going to be playing in the Ryder Cup when he's 102 years old, maybe. Like, we might have to wait awhile for Justin to be a captain.”

A little tongue-in-cheek? Sure–but I also wouldn’t be shocked at this point. Rose is still doing the damn thing. (Don’t forget, he almost won the Masters in April!)

Fleetwood also gave us an inside look at Team Europe’s celebration that went down on Sunday, and the Englishman said he couldn’t hang.

“I was definitely out of gas, and I left before it finished. It's not that easy to play a full week of Ryder Cup golf and then try and party all night. It's just not that easy," Fleetwood said.

“Nelson was the DJ, and I said to him at 1:30, I'm done and going to bed, I'm so tired. Apparently, they just kept it going. The guys that were there wanted to keep it going. It was a longer night for some than others. But yeah, I don't have the capacity or endurance to last a full night with some of those boys.”

Judging by this video, those European boys got after it.
