Sure, leftover turkey the day after Thanksgiving is great. But watching the world’s best players battle on a national stage might be even better. That's how names like Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Tiger Woods made "The Skins Game" appointment television.
From 1983 to 2008, some of the games brightest stars came together for a post-Thanksgiving battle, becoming one of the most popular made-for-TV sporting events of all time. Back in '83, the first Skins Game featured Arnie, Jack, Tom Watson and Gary Player. In 2008, K.J. Choi took down Stephen Ames, and took home more than $400,000.
For more than 40 years, The Skins Game laid dormant, but next month, that is going to change.
Pro Shop, PGA TOUR Studios, and Propagate Content are relaunching the iconic event on November 28, 2025, the day after Thanksgiving, at Panther National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. If you’re unfamiliar with Panther—it was designed by Nicklaus and Justin Thomas. Should be pretty solid.
And speaking of the current World No. 6, he’ll be one of the four players battling it out next month, alongside Tommy Fleetwood, Xander Schauffele, and Keegan Bradley—safe to say the Englishman has all the bragging rights going in thanks to what just happened at Bethpage Black.
“We’ve taken up the mantle to bring back The Skins Game, and we’re proud to work alongside PGA TOUR Studios, Prime Video and Propagate Content to reintroduce this iconic event and reclaim its rightful place on the sports calendar,” said Chad Mumm, Co-Founder and President of Pro Shop, in a statement.
“By keeping the traditional format intact and adding some creative twists, we’re giving fans an experience that honors the past while delivering pure, high-stakes competition where the pressure builds with every shot.”
So what's the format? It will be a traditional skins game, with each hole carrying a dollar value, and tied holes rolling over. But there’s a twist.
Each player will start with $1 million on the scoreboard, and fans will be able to see those numbers go up and down as cash changes hands throughout the match.
And where can you watch The Skins Game? Prime Video will broadcast the event on Black Friday, and it will lead into the Black Friday NFL game and Prime’s new NBA double-header.
In other words, prepare to spend a lot of time on the couch.
