Let the games begin!
There's no doubt that the Winter Olympics will be the biggest sports x culture moment we'll have this year—and even though golf isn't a category in these games (we have to wait until LA in 2028)—one major winner joined in on the fun for the Olympic Torch Relay!
The LPGA's very own Ruoning Yin was one of the 10,001 torch bearers who were in charge of passing the flame on to it's final destination in Milan.
Dating back to the 1936 Berlin Summer Olympics, the Olympic torches are passed along across countries and continents to symbolize a message of friendship and connection, on its way to reaching the Olympic Opening Ceremony. The origin derives from the ancient Olympics, where a sacred flame was kept burning in the Temple of Hera at Olympia.
Yin wrote to her Instagram, "The run was short, but the meaning lasts. Truly honored to be one of the 10,001. Carrying the flame forward with hope, belief, and the courage to keep going. A once in a lifetime experience."
The 23-year-old is no stranger to Olympic competition, she competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics as a member of the People's Republic of China's golf team. She finished T-10.
