A stacked field at the 2025 Ford Championship means that the leaderboard was bound to have some recognizable faces—and boy, does it ever.
Charley Hull was the clubhouse leader at the conclusion of the first round, firing a 9-under 63—that could've been a 59. After her round, Hull spoke to LPGA host Hope Barnett saying, "I look back thinking I left about four shots out there. I think when I was coming down the 12th hole, I was thinking 'right, I could try and shoot 59', but I did leave a few putts out there."
Hull's clean scorecard meant that players would have to go very low to make it to the weekend at Seville G&CC just outside of Phoenix, AZ. The top-two ranked players, Nelly Korda and Jeeno Thitikul, meant business during Friday's second round while storming up the leaderboard.
Thitikul has been on a heater since last August, with a sub-68 scoring average from August 2024 to February 2025, the 22-year-old has easily been the best player in the women's game. In that stretch she accumulated two wins, and 10 top-10 finishes—and she's not slowing down.
She made the turn Friday at an impressive 7-under 29.
And then there's world No.1 Nelly Korda. After a few weeks off the 15-time LPGA winner is making her return to competition this week, while also looking to defend her Ford Championship title. Korda has a tendency to win after long breaks away from tournament play, and history may be repeating itself.
The world's best dueling it out, exchanging leads is golf at its finest and must-see TV. Don't miss out on the action.
