AUGUSTA, GA — Thanks to his two wins on the DP World Tour earlier this year and his impressive history at Augusta National—including the Green Jacket hanging in his closet—expectations were high for Patrick Reed coming into the week.
It’s early—very, very early—but he’s delivering.

After finding the fairway on one, Reed hit his approach to six feet and buried the putt. Then, his second shot into the par-5 second finished just long of the green, but it wasn’t much of a problem—he buried it for eagle to start the 90th Masters 3 under through two.
But he wasn’t alone up top.
Tommy Fleetwood, after an opening par, went birdie, birdie, birdie to also play Augusta National’s opening quartet in 3 under.
Man, it feels so good to be among the Georgia Pines again.
Update: After five straight pars, Reed buried a 56-foot putt for another eagle on the eighth. What a start for the 2018 champion.
