Well that was one hell of a way to start her LPGA career. Becoming just the third woman in LPGA history to win her pro debut (Rose Zhang did it most recently in 2023 at Mizuho), Lottie Woad continues to show us that she is exactly what we already thought she would be…a force.
Woad’s been on a heater.
It began at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, where she had a dominant six stroke margin of victory. And then her incredible play continued at Evian, where she narrowly missed out on what was a thrilling playoff, but it was enough to earn her LPGA membership—which she accepted just 12 days ago.
In her last three professional starts, Woad is 55 under par with a 67.4 scoring average.
Brick by brick, it's all been building to this week, her first event as an LPGA member. She fired an opening round 67 at the Women’s Scottish Open to give herself a share of the lead, and really was in the driver’s seat ever since.
Her composure is unmatched. When Hyo Joo Kim was closing in on the back nine during Sunday's final round, Woad drained back to back birdies to stretch herself clear.
It was incredible shot after incredible shot. She looked as if she's done his a thousand times over.
It was hers to lose. I think we all feel her star power, but this is next level. Now, our attention turns to the final major of the season, The AIG Women’s Open at Royal Porthcawl. Can the 2024 Augusta National Women’s amateur champ also snag a win at her major championship debut as a pro?
