Collin Morikawa hasn’t played since the opening round of THE PLAYERS, when he was forced to withdraw after one hole due to a back injury. He was slated to return at this week’s Valero Texas Open, but on Tuesday, he withdrew from the event.
According to the PGA TOUR’s Paul Hodowanic and PGA TOUR Communications, Morikawa is "still experiencing residual effects of his non-contact injury sustained at THE PLAYERS."
Before TPC Sawgrass, Morikawa was playing some great golf. Not only did he win at Pebble Beach, but he tied for seventh at the Genesis Invitational and finished solo-fifth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

With the Masters next week, Morikawa’s status for the year’s first major championship is now in serious doubt. The World No. 8 has performed well at Augusta National throughout his career with five top-20 finishes in six starts.
