All eyes are on Bethpage Black right now. Next week, the historic venue on Long Island will host the 45th Ryder Cup, one of the most anticipated events in recent history. And if you love the Black course, you’ll be a fan of the announcement that was made on Wednesday.
The PGA of America issued a release stating that the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship will head to Bethpage Black for the very first time in June of 2028.
“Venues matter. They elevate our athletes and amplify the moments that define our game,” Craig Kessler, LPGA Commissioner, said in a statement. “Bethpage Black is one of the most iconic tests in golf, and bringing the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship here for the first time will showcase our players against the backdrop of a venue with extraordinary history and energy. For fans and athletes alike, the championship will be a special opportunity to see the best women in the world compete on one of the game’s greatest stages.”
And on top of that, the PGA Championship is bound for the Black course in 2033.
In 2019, the last time the PGA was held at Bethpage, Brooks Koepka captured his second straight Wanamaker Trophy with a two-shot win over Dustin Johnson.
As someone who’s headed to Bethpage next week, I can’t wait to see it in person for the first time. It will only make these future championships that much better.
