A very familiar name is near the top of the Team TaylorMade Invitational leaderboard.
Charlie Woods shot an incredible 2-under 70 during the first round, and by incredible, I really mean psycho. He made an eagle, eight birdies, five bogeys, and a triple. Tiger’s kid only carded three(!!) pars. That made Shane Bacon, the president of the psycho scorecard club, pretty proud.
But on Tuesday, Woods stormed up the board with a 7-under 65 and now sits at 9-under total, one shot behind Luke Colton, a Vanderbilt commit, and tied with Miles Russell. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because he teed it up at the PGA TOUR’s Rocket Mortgage Classic last season at just 15 years old. The kid’s got serious, serious game.
But back to Woods. He poured in nine birdies during the second round and kept the card relatively clean—just two bogeys.
The Team TaylorMade Invitational at Streamsong Black is just 54 holes, so Woods has just 18 more to catch Colton and take home the title.
If he goes on to win, I’m sure the high school junior will be getting plenty of calls from college programs. (If they aren't already in line.)
