I haven’t been out to the Memorial for a few years now so I’m looking forward to the week in Dublin. It always feels like a family friendly event with fun off course activities to take your mind off the ever challenging Muirfield Village Golf Course! No matter how the week goes though, one thing I’m certain of is that it will be made better with the help of an infamous Memorial milkshake.
-Dublin/Memorial is a great area and event to come to as a family
-Tons of restaurants, stores, activities, and amenities all super close to the hotel
-Forgot about the roundabouts, so many roundabouts
-Spent the beginning of the week hanging with Maddox while Adam practiced
-Coming in clutch was Little Diggers (huge indoor sand play place), Chick Fil A (always a staple), and the hotel’s indoor swimming pool
-Coming in not clutch, the playground monkey bars which resulted in an urgent care trip but fortunately a clean bill of health
-I really love the historic downtown Dublin area. It’s so quaint with lots of cute shops and good coffee
-Maddox’s favorite thing has been the giant stone field of corn. Eclectic and free, we’ll take it
-Didn’t expect to be chilly here when it’s almost June. “Had to” hit up TJ Maxx for a jacket
-No clue what golf will entail this week for Adam. It’s been a grind for our favorite guy but I really admire his perseverance and commitment to figure it out
-Adam is out of the room and at the course before we are even up for a 9am tee time
-Get to the course for the back 9, and I’m happy to find we do not have to Valet.
-I like to sit in the car until it’s time for Adam to tee off because I am a loner and even after 10 years, it still feels awkward to me to sit in the clubhouse for hours
-Course is a beast to walk
-My headphones keep disconnecting and somehow the 1/2 round feels 3x as long
-Feel like the 9 holes I saw was pretty good despite the score
-Have a quick lunch with Adam then head to pick up our daughter before the best part of the Memorial, family zoo night!
-It’s rainy and cold. Not sure my TJ Maxx jacket is gonna do the trick
-Take Adam to the course about 10 AM for a 12:30 PM tee time then drop Maddox at tour school for a special farm animals visit
-A local aesthetic center provided certificates for a service for the wives, and for the first time in probably 5+ years I decided to take advantage of this perk!
-Decided to try one of their nutrient IV bags. They were very lovely and I enjoyed just chilling out. TBD on if I feel invigorated after my bag.
-During my bougie infusion, I got a call from our builder for our future home to let me know that our basement flooded and our brand new wood floors, trim, doors and some cabinets will likely need completely gutted. Cool cool
-Was planning to head to the course but defer back to the hotel and start getting a hold of our insurance and sorting through things for the house
-Keep track of Adam‘s round on the app and oscillate from “I’m gonna pack and book a flight” to “oh wait I think he’s gonna make the cut”

-Get to the course when Adam’s on 18 with a 6ft par putt to make the cut
-He misses, and I feel gutted for him and our 5 year old who is crying in the backseat about not wanting to leave Ohio yet
-What can I say, golf is hard, or so I hear
-Time to head back home and sort the house debacle out and leave Adam to try to continue sorting out his game
-Whoops never mind y’all. Didn’t realize how close the cut line was. +5 slips in and all the Hadwins are happy
-Head to Carrabas for dinner to celebrate sticking around for the weekend
-Take Adam to the course by 8am for a 1015 tee time and go back to the hotel to kill time
-Maddox to tour school and head out to watch
-It is dang cold and windy
-Adam is playing great in the above conditions!

-I haven’t been in the merch shop but I’ve seen some really good Memorial logo’d sweatshirts and jackets on the course
-Every female looks absolutely freezing while their man looks perfectly content in shorts and a short sleeve polo
-I give up after awhile and head in to try and warm up. Have a quick lunch and then go sit in the car till Adam is done
-Hang around the hotel swimming pool and watch Adam move up the board as the day goes on which is a nice treat
-It’s a beautiful day and we saw a deer just chilling next to the parking lot this morning when we left for the course
-Not sure how the above 2 are related but just seemed special
-We’ve also befriended a huge groundhog that’s our every evening. Honestly a highlight of the week
-The golf is going pretty good, and Adam is hanging steady
-Until he’s not. Sadly, things unravel a bit and he tumbles down the leaderboard to the end you don’t want to be on
-Despite a bum day, we are going to make the best of it by taking our child for tepanyaki cuz she has not stopped asking if we could go.
-Nothing like staring at an inflamed onion tower and trying to catch flying shrimp in your mouth to mentally decompress from a tough round
-After dinner we hang around the hotel, play cards (war, crazy 8s, and later gin). Most to least competitive players being Adam, Maddox, Me
-Adam gets ready for the longest day of golf tomorrow with US Open qualifying, and I get Maddox and I packed up to head home
-Feel sad to split from Adam for a week but hoping we can all reconvene at Oakmont 🤞
