Odyssey TRTL Putters Moving Fast At Rocket Classic

When it comes to winning and overall usage on the PGA TOUR, the TaylorMade Spider has been on a generational run for several seasons now, but Odyssey looks to have something up its sleeve with the growing popularity of its TRTL model mallet, which is on full display at the Rocket Classic this week in Detroit.

Odyssey appears to be all in on the TRTL putter line with all kinds of options for players to test, including various hosel and sightline configurations, and even some long putters.

What makes this interesting to cover at the moment is Callaway and Odyssey are being rather mum about the release of the TRTL here in North America even though it was recently released in Japan.

The stand out feature of the TRTL mallet line is that it's a stark contrast to the many Square-2-Square models that have been released over the last couple of years and by all accounts will come in a standard double bend, a short slant, and plumbers (CH) neck hosel to aid in alignment and stroke fit. NOTE: Japan currently has a S2S (zero-torque) TRTL option available for pre-order.

As for technology - the putter appears to utilize an Ai modeled insert with the "shell" being made of lighter weight Aluminium, and the "feet" of the turtle being used to position heavier weights to boost MOI.

The only detail we don't know, and Callaway isn't giving us, is when these will become available to consumers here in North America - until then, these TRTLs will remain an endangered species.
