Nike’s product lives on golf’s biggest stages year after year, but lately the intent has felt sharper, more culturally tuned-in and heritage-aware. From a deliberate nod to a revived Shield era to stronger player-driven storytelling (like Nelly Korda’s charm-laden Nike Free exclusives), the brand is blending performance with personality in ways it hasn’t in years. That strategic mix makes one thing clear: Nike knows how to pick its moments—and the Waste Management Open is one of them.

The upcoming Nike Air Max 95 “Cattle Drive” NRG sits right in that lane. Slated to drop February 5, just ahead of the Waste Management Open, this isn’t just a “heritage throwback", it’s part of a broader push to bring beloved Nike DNA to golf with course-ready performance woven into unmistakable style.

Layered with '90s energy, the spikeless golf shoe blends performance mesh with suede below leather details that just make sense on the desert-toned shoe. Hits of turquoise add an energetic western-inspired finish.

And while these NRG releases often remain in boxes or on display as collectors items, they're course-ready with a rubber-lugged outsole and Nike Air cushioning in the heel and forefront.

Staying true to the original Air Max '95 with fabric loops threading the laces instead of traditional eyelets, a leather panel on the tongue locks laces in place with a brogue-like design that's easy to miss but essential for the look. Designers were inspired by human anatomy when making this shoe and the lacing system was intentionally designed to be rib-like with a wider and thicker presence than traditional lacing.

An optional leather kiltie lace cover was also designed for this release that was first spotted by Sole Retriever in late November.

We got a sneak peek of the limited-edition shoe at the 2026 PGA Show, tucked quietly into Nike’s broader lineup. Most brands would’ve put a drop like this front and center. Nike doesn’t need to. If you know where to look, that’s the point.

The “Cattle Drive” AM95 is a premium clubhouse-meets-streetwear statement via a limited-run sneaker tapping into golf’s evolving style language. It’s not just another spikeless shoe. It’s a moment, landing right when the sport is loudest.
