The beginning of each year in golf usually means that we get a cascade of announcements broadcasting which athletes are re-singing with sponsors and who is jumping ship, debuting new threads or equipment. Last year, it felt like everyone was switching it up—this year the brand free agency feels a lot less noisy and perhaps a bit more methodical. But there's one brand in particular that's moving differently, creating a narrative that feels ahead of the curve, similarly to its apparel designs.

If you love to winter in Jackson Hole, spend long-weekends in the Hamptons, and dabble in your occasional local sim golf league in the city—you’ve probably been a fan of J.Lindeberg. Known for its more than “out-there” color stories and silhouettes, the Swedish lifestyle and sport brand has a unique touch in the golf space. Their ambassadors, spearheaded by Viktor Hovland (who recently extended his partnership) and newly integrated, Frenchman Matthieu Pavon—two young faces on the PGA TOUR, who have a natural magnetic pull due to their playing styles and friendly on-course demeanors—are a testament to the brand's mission to staying in the contemporary mix.

But as golf works to extend its hand in the larger pop-culture pot, what better way to stake your claim than announcing two 'golf x lifestyle' ambassadors to help you navigate the space.

J.Lindeberg announced golf creator and personality Mia Baker, and actress Kathryn Newton as new ambassadors for the brand as a way to continue it's mission to redefine the connection between fashion and sport, for a more modern lifestyle approach in golf.

If you follow JL on socials, with a quick scroll you will see that Newton has been a friend of the brand for quite some time. Accompanying them on trips to Paris for the Olympics, making a pit stop in Vegas ahead of the Showdown between Bryson, Brooks, Rory, and Scottie, and a few other side quests.

Newton is no stranger to golf. Picking up a club at a young age, she went on to have a successful high school career before pursuing acting full-time. Known for her roles in Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Big Little Lies, Newton has said to bring her sticks on set locations with her. A true golf-sicko like the rest of us.

“I’ve always loved J.Lindeberg—on and off the golf course. Their designs feel as powerful, meticulous, and dynamic as the game itself, and I couldn’t be more excited to officially join the family," Newton said. "Golf has always been a big part of my life, and now I get to share my passion for the sport and J.Lindeberg’s vision with even more people."

This natural partnership feels like a total win for JL. Someone familiar with not just golf, but also the brand—and one who is a household name thanks to her day job.

In tandem, content creator and golf personality Mia Baker was also brought on. Baker was previously tied to adidas, so she's a familiar face in the golf brand ambassador game. But more broadly, she has developed a strong following within the community, documenting her foray into golf, capturing the attention of many beginners with fun, creative instructional content.

With over 300K followers on Instagram over 80K subscribers on YouTube, Baker has found her niche within the space—for women especially to embrace the sport through style and wellness.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Mia as one of our first-ever lifestyle ambassadors. Her perspective and passion for storytelling and inclusivity aligns perfectly with J.Lindeberg’s values. Mia represents the future of golf, helping to make it more modern by inspiring a more diverse and engaged audience.”

Hans-Christian Meyer, CEO of J.Lindeberg, on the announcement.

As golf continues its cultural shift, the alternative turn towards other personalities will continue to happen. What J.Lindeberg gets very right in this acquisition of sorts are having two people already intimately linked to the game, so that it doesn't feel like a desperate, grasping for straws measure, but rather a well thought out intentional execution that opens up new possibilities.

We'll be keen to see how Newton, Baker, and JL tackle this year and just how much they lean into the lifestyle-fication of golf.
