Wyndham Clark Called Out Team USA's Home Fans After Quiet Showing at Medinah
Wyndham Clark says the environment at Medinah on Thursday was "dead."
It felt like it though the television, it felt like it to Skratch's Nicole Rae who was on the ground, and now we know it felt like it for the players: there was no juice at Medinah on Thursday for the opening session of the Presidents Cup.
While I was watching all afternoon, it felt like I was watching a standard PGA Tour event. The lack of energy for Team USA denied the players any sort of home-field advantage, and now Brandt Snedeker’s squad hold just a 3-2 lead going into Friday Foursomes.

After he and Collin Morikawa took down Ryan Fox and Adam Scott, 3 and 2, Wyndham Clark called out the gallery outside of Chicago, and asked for more noise over the next three days.
“It was kind of dead out there. I felt like the momentum could have been better, to be honest, because we weren't really feeling the fans, I think, as much as normal,” Clark said. “There was a few shots—I mean, Collin hit a 5-wood on 11 to like 10 feet, and we didn't even know if it was on the green because no one clapped. It was a little surprising. We'd make some big putts—I'm saying this more as a challenge that hopefully tomorrow and the weekend the fans are out there really rooting us on, and regardless of what happens, we have the momentum.”
In 2024, the International Team won Friday’s foursomes session, 5-0, over the Americans. Captain Brandt Snedeker has to circle the wagons tonight to make sure that doesn’t happen again—and I’m sure he’d love to see a hostile environment, just like the one Clark asked for.
