Golf Will Return to Hawaii in 2027—Here are the Details

Going forward, the PGA TOUR is leaving Hawaii behind. The PGA TOUR Champions, however, will fill the shoes left behind. In 2027, the best senior golfers in the world will head to Waialae Country Club in Honolulu for the Sony Open.

“We are excited to welcome the Sony Championship Hawaii to PGA TOUR Champions. Sony has been an incredible PGA TOUR partner since 1999, and we are looking forward to beginning this new era with the legends of the game competing on a truly iconic venue in Waialae Country Club,” said PGA TOUR Champions President Miller Brady in a statement.

The Sony Open, which will be held from Jan. 13-16, will feature a purse of $3 million.

Waialae had hosted the PGA TOUR annually since 1965, with Chris Gotterup winning the final installment back in January.

Beginning the year in Hawaii used to be one of the TOUR’s trademarks, and it’s nice to know that’s not completely going away.
