Jennifer Kupcho and Maja Stark Delivered Masterful Solheim Saturday Performances

After gutsy shots and clutch moments, both teams are tied after day 2. Here's everything that went down on Saturday, plus the Sunday Singles matchups.

After two days, we're exactly where a Solheim Cup should be, all square, everything on the line, and one final day to decide it.
Saturday's sessions got everyone's blood pressure elevated with some really incredible golf, but no two players shined brighter than American Jennifer Kupcho and Swede Maja Stark.
At this point, I think I’ve watched Kupcho's putt on 17 about 100 times. I still can't believe how perfectly she struck it.
Playing alongside Lindy Duncan against Carlota Ciganda and Celine Boutier, Kupcho had 92 feet between her and the hole when she stepped up on the 17th green. Somehow, through multiple breaks she sent it into the heart of the cup for a much-needed birdie to win the hole. (Given the reactions though, you would've thought it was an ace.)
The Americans had been staring down a potential 9-7 deficit heading into Sunday. Instead, Kupcho and Duncan walked to 18 all square. And because apparently one ridiculous putt wasn't enough, Kupcho followed it up by draining another massive birdie putt on the final hole to win the match 1-up and send the U.S. into Sunday tied 8-8.
It's the exact kind of moment you expect from a team event like this. The kind that makes you yell at your TV and immediately jump to social media to see the other reactions.
And Kupcho wasn't the only American putting on a show.
Earlier in the afternoon, Yealimi Noh and Andrea Lee and Rose Zhang and Auston Kim delivered points for the U.S., setting the stage for Kupcho's late heroics. After Europe took a 3-1 lead in the morning foursomes to move ahead 7-5, the Americans flipped the script in the afternoon, winning three of four fourball matches.
But on the European side, Maja Stark was having a day of her own. Stark and Linn Grant handed Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz their first Solheim Cup loss as a partnership, winning 3&2 in the morning foursomes and snapping the Americans' unbeaten run together. The duo then backed that up to beat Lauren Coughlin and Megan Khang in the afternoon in another epic thriller that came down to the 17th.
It was the kind of day where every time one team seemed ready to take control, the other punched right back. Which brings us here—USA 8, Europe 8.
And history makes the position even more intriguing. The Americans have the stronger overall record in Solheim Cup singles, with the U.S. holding a 122.5-97.5 advantage in singles points over the history of the event. With 12 matches still to play Sunday, that historical edge suddenly feels pretty relevant.
The U.S. needs six points to retain the Cup. Europe needs 6½ to win it outright.
While we wait for Sunday, I’ll be watching Kupcho's putt on 17 somewhere between one and 10 more times.

Sunday Singles Match Ups

Kupcho vs. Ciganda in the penultimate match is sure to be an all-timer.
Coverage begins in the U.S. at 5 a.m. ET on Golf Channel.
