Team USA’s Horses Continued to Gallop on Day 1 of the 2026 Solheim Cup
It feels like Angela Stanford has a few cheat codes at the Solheim Cup, and she’s continuing to lean on them going into the weekend.
Tiger Woods’ record at the Ryder Cup was 13-21-3. Scottie Scheffler’s current mark is 3-6-3. I guess that’s a long-winded way of saying: team golf and match play are really, really hard. And when captains find successful pairings, they have to do everything in their power to lean on them.
That brings us to Team USA captain Angela Stanford and the current cheat codes she has on her roster.
On Friday morning, Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz brought their record as a pair to 5-0 after taking down Charley Hull and Lottie Woad. Unlike the men’s No. 1-player in the world, Korda’s record at the Solheim Cup is now a stellar 11-5-2.
Then, after sitting out the morning session, Megan Khang moved to 7-0-1 over the last three Solheim Cups with a win over Celine Boutier and Nanna Koerstz Madsen. Not only has she been an absolute problem for the Europeans inside the ropes, but she’s serving as Team USA’s spark plug and emotional leader.
Finally, after making her Solheim debut two years ago and going 3-0-1, Lauren Coughlin went 1-0-1 on Friday, continuing her undefeated record while wearing red, white, and blue. The 17th-ranked player in the world has quickly become a stalwart of Team USA.
Stanford is once again sending out Korda and Corpuz first on Saturday morning, with the hopes her star tandem can make it 6-0. As for Coughlin, she’ll be going up against Charley Hull and Lottie Woad alongside Alison Lee with her undefeated streak on the line. Khang will sit for the foursomes session for the second straight day—but don’t worry, she’ll be ready to go by the afternoon.
If these four Americans can keep it rolling at Bernardus, Stanford’s squad should be in fine position going into Sunday Singles.
