Shocker: Scottie Scheffler Misses the Cut at the 2026 Genesis Scottish Open

Well, I didn’t expect to write these words this week: Scottie Scheffler has missed the cut at the Genesis Scottish Open.

The World No. 1 opened with a 2-under 68 on Thursday, putting him just three shots back of the lead going into round two. But two early bogeys on Friday morning pushed him from the brink of contention to fighting to make it to the weekend.

After a birdie on the par-5 first, his 10th hole of the day, Scheffler couldn’t get anything going on the back nine and eventually signed for a 2-over 72.

"I got off to a tough start and back nine, just felt like I wasn't hitting it close enough to give myself enough opportunities. I think that's really kind of what it comes down to," Scheffler said.

His last missed cut came at the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship, a mere 1,428 days ago. Since then, Scheffler had made 78 weekends in a row.

This isn’t the first time Scheffler missed the cut at the Renaissance Club. Before tying for eighth in 2025 and for third in 2023, he packed his bags a few days early in 2022.

Now he’ll head to Royal Birkdale for next week’s Open, where he’ll return the Claret Jug as the reigning Champion Golfer of the Year.
