How the U.S. Ryder Cup Qualification Process Is Changing for 2027
Team USA captain Jim Furyk has outlined the new qualification process heading into the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor.
Team USA captain Jim Furyk is making some changes to the qualification process for next year’s Ryder Cup, with the hope of finding the 12 best Americans to travel to Adare Manor in Ireland.
Point allocation for all Americans will begin at The American Express (Jan. 21-24) and conclude following the BMW Championship (Aug. 19-22) at Liberty National. After the six automatic qualifiers are official following the second playoff event, Furyk will make his six captain’s picks during the week of August 30 following the TOUR Championship.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the points awarded to the winner of the varying levels of events:
Major championship: 3,000 points
THE PLAYERS: 2,850 points
Signature events/Playoff events: 2,250 points
Standard, full-field events: 1,500 points

“I have worked diligently with our team and am pleased to implement a new qualifying process for the 2027 U.S. Ryder Cup Team,” Furyk said in a statement. “We possess an exceptional mix of veterans and rising stars, and this system will help us identify the strongest players in September 2027. As I have said from the outset, this role was very appealing to me because I love the passion, camaraderie and deep sense of brotherhood among this group of American players. I am excited for qualification to begin in January and to watch them compete at the highest level for a spot on our team.”
The ‘27 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor is scheduled for September 17-19, as the Europeans hope to make it three wins in a row following victories in Rome and Long Island.
